主な研究

 1. 口腔-腸管連続系における新規プロバイオティクスシーズの開発

 偏性嫌気性グラム陰性球菌であるVeillonella(ベイオネラ)属細菌は、ヒト消化器系における常在細菌である。本属細菌のユニークなエネルギー代謝機能をゲノム編集により改良することで、新規う蝕予防プロバイオティクスや、全身免疫系に寄与する腸管プロバイオティクスのシーズとなる育種開発に取り組んでいる。

2. 口腔細菌の新菌種及び新属の確立と提唱

 ヒト口腔より分離される偏性嫌気性菌を中心とした系統分類を行っている。未同定細菌の新菌種、新属の確立と提唱を進めることで、口腔マイクロバイオーム情報の拡充を図る。
